Zu Abend mein Herz

for trombone, percussion and tape
using poems by Georg Trakl
studio : Klang Projekte Weimar / 1993 / duration: 13:30 min

The composition ZU ABEND MEIN HERZ is a musical exploration of poems by the Austrian Georg Trakl. Trakl describes an emotional world which attracts me very much. The themes are downfall and hope. I try to create, with musical means, a sound-scape which translates the text and which uses speech as soundsource.

For the tape, two sound-groups are used:

  1. Sounds of the original instruments (Trombone, percussion).
  2. Recordings of the texts of Trakl

The musical material is based 5 seven-note chords that show up as well in the tape as in the instrumental part.
