The sound installation is playing bell chimes at every hour.

Bells were at all times special acoustic signals, which let the inhabitants to listen.

Religious events, fire, mourning, celebrations are some of these causes. For me, bells are symbols for the specific sound of a place and its culture. I bring the sound of very diverse bells to a new place, to strike within several weeks an acoustic bridge to their sources.

I recorded them during travels of the past 10 years. These bells will ring with their original sound, and sometimes becoming slightly transformed. They are joined by some bell sounds, produced by physical modeling.

The sound installation is a reflection on our acoustic environment and cultural identity.
