résorption-coupure
4-channel electroacoustic composition
studio : Klang Projekte Weimar / 2000 / duration: 14:27 min
commissioned by Denis Dufour
résorption-coupure is a combination of synthetic sounds coming from physical modelling and recordings I made in different Asiatic cultures. The synthetic sounds were realised with the program Genesis/ACROE. The physical behaviour of vibrating objects are simulated in the computer and their natural limitations extended. I created plugged and hit objects which would not otherwise exist.
The compositions deals with two time aspects: continuity and interruption. During the piece the fact of cutting becomes continuous.
The recordings of Asiatic sources was not used as an anecdotal concept. I was more interested in their room and energy qualities in relation to the synthetic sounds.
résorption-coupure is a commission by Denis Dufour. The synthetic sounds were realized during a workshop on physical modelling at the ZKM Karlsruhe. The final composition were mixed in the studio of KlangProjekteWeimar.
